Britishers set foot on the Indian subcontinent in the early 1600s and things haven’t been same since then. Before they left in 1974, the Britishers brought in various changes in the India society-some good and some bad. Many of the things they did was for their own convenience. For most of the Britishers who stepped a foreign land with a foreign language, calling out the Indian names was quite difficult. And just because they could, these Britishers changed various Indian names for their own comfort. Here we list out few of these names that Britishers changed.
While some of these were renamed after Independence, most of them still follow the colonial names.
