Symphone Technology founder Romesh Wadhwani has taken 69 years to set up an empire of 17 data, technology, healthcare and analytics companies that together take in more than $2.8 billion in annual revenue. He is ranked 222nd on the Forbes list. Last year, Wadhwani announced that he planned to commit up to $1 billion to fund entrepreneurship initiatives in India.
Bharat and Neerja Desai
Co founder of Syntel the husband and wife team of Bharat and Neerja Desai generate over $950 million in revenue and has nearly 24,000 employees across the globe, the company was started in 1980 in just an apartment in Michigan.
Rakesh Gangwal is a well known airline veteran, the IIT alumnus who made his fortune from InterGlobe Aviation started Indigo Airlines with just one plane in Delhi in 2006. Today he owns more than 40% of the company and serves as a board member.
Kapoor is an entrepreneur who has made a living starting huge drug outfits – Akorn, which specialises in “difficult-to-manufacture” prescription drugs and Insys Therapeutics, which produces an opioid for cancer patients. He ranks 335 on the list with a net worth of $2.1 billion.

Shriram ranks 361 on the list with a net worth of $1.9 billion. His portfolio include Optimizely, Paperless Post and Immobi. Initially Google backer, Shriram, 59, has sold of most of his stock but remains on the board of its parent company, Alphabet, Forbes said. Since 2000, he has been investing in young technology startups through his firm, Sherpalo Ventures.
