Going abroad- we all have that dream, some may have even achieved it. For varying reasons, people travel to foreign land and either settle there or come back after a certain period. It has become much common nowadays, but you cannot understand the exact feelings, unless you travel yourself. Here is a list of things that you won’t realise unless you out of India!
You have to get used to weird questions, mostly stuff that can be offensive to Indians.
How come you are fair?
Do you have pet snakes?
How do you speak such good english?
Ok so this is not that unknown, no matter where we go, we will convert the currency to Indian rupees and be shocked by the high prices! Apart from that, you have to get used to the prices being without taxes, they do not add taxes until the billing!
You will never get food that is spicy enough for our palate. Everything will taste bland!
Wrongly Pronounced Name
Explaining your name and the pronunciation will be the biggest headache of your life!
Being born in a country with such huge population, you will take time to adjust to the quietness there. In India we have to fight for space on roads, buses, etc; in short everywhere. In foreign land, you will wish to see at least one face around!
The lights, the colours, the gatherings and what not! Once you go abroad sitting alone in your apartment and crying over missing out on the festivities will be your only option!
Ghar ka Khana
This is probably the worst one, because you will not get the food your Mom made anywhere!
Even if you were never much of a bollywood fan, you will miss the dancing and the fighting and the drama!
Cursing in Mother Tongue
Old habits, die hard! Every once in a while you will find yourself cursing in your mother tongue, it’s a good thing the goras won’t understand!
Different clothes for every season! The extreme cold will freeze you to your bones!
It is an different issue that you will take time to drive on such good roads, but the left-hand steering wheel, that is getting used to on a whole different level!
Return a Patriot
It won’t matter how much you loved India before, but once you land back on Indian soil, the love will be unmeasurable!
To everyone who is planning to go abroad- we hope this helped you a bit, and those who of you are already there- we feel you!
